People talk about music that has impacted and resonated with them over the years. I am huge fan of a lot of music I have listened to and music I am still listening to however, today I thought about music and sound that has played throughout my life in the background (I think I am in this mood because I was placed on hold earlier).
I grew up in the city and did my share of shopping with my mom and grandma as such I have heard my fair share of muzak. After graduating and starting my career I worked in retail so I was treated to even more muzak. For those who do not know muzak is, an American brand of background music. There is a company that will set up your store or restaurant with a whole system and software solution.
Later in life I have taken jobs in manufacturing and replaced muzak with the hum of industrial machinery. When my wife and I vacation we love to take hikes in nature and I have to say that the background sounds of birds singing and nature in general seem to be some of the most therapeutic soundscapes I have ever experienced.

Exposure to natural sounds have helped people reduce anxiety, lower stress and improve ones over all mental health. Try to make it a point today to connect with the natural world. Even if it is just a walk on a trail in a park.
